Real Pay · Freelance contracts, hourly or fixed
Is Upwork worth it? Its real pay, after the fees nobody lists
Fully computableUpwork replaced its old sliding fee with a variable 0–15% per contract in May 2025. The honest way to use this page: Upwork shows your exact fee on each contract before you accept — type that number in. The 10% preset is the typical case, labeled as one.
The part the poster skips: Proposals cost Connects whether you win or not, and unpaid proposal time is the silent fee. Ten proposals at 30 minutes each is five hours that never appear on any invoice.
